Broken Glass

Photobucket

Did I mention the eventful weekend my fella and I just experienced? Let's just say, it started with our house getting broken into, and ended with a cabinet almost landing on my head. Everyone is fine though, including the kitties (who are terrible guard animals by the way), so no need to worry. But it was a lot to deal with in a two day time period.

The kitchen cabinet avalanche resulted in most of our drinking glasses being broken. The thing actually fell off the wall, no kidding. But thanks to the hard work of my sweetie, it has all been put back in place. The break-in on the other hand resulted in my laptop (among other items) being stolen, which is a tougher thing to get over. It's so frustrating to lose all of the inspiration files, photos, bookmarks, music, etc, that I spent so long putting together. I have a feeling it will take a while to reassemble these things, so if I am slow with the posting you will know why.

Thankfully though, our house was left in one piece and we are all safe and sound, and Kevin and I are immensely grateful for that. So there won't be any complaining from me. Now, maybe I will get dressed and head over to the sale room at Anthropologie for some new glassware.

Love this room!

What a great mix of pieces and styles in this home recently featured in Philadelphia Home magazine. I am digging the antique armoire paired with the Jonathan Adler ceramics, vintage chandelier, Marimekko window shade, and whimsically decal-ed ceiling. More images here...

I'm loving these quirky sets of custom social stationary from Mr. Boddington's Studio. The hand-drawn fonts and the color combinations of the envelope liners are so unusual and chic.

And fyi, the sets are now available to be ordered online...

I love these delicate numbered teacups from Anthropologie. And what a bargain at $6 each! If you don't drink tea like me, they can be used as a tiny planter for flowers or maybe to hold rings on your dresser. I have mine sitting in the kitchen windowsill with the rest of my plants. I'm not much of a green thumb, but I enjoy looking at this grouping when I cook or wash dishes...

Felix Rey & Miss Trish of Capri for Target

Photobucket

Photobucket

Have you guys checked out these awesome new design collaborations from our friends at Target? I am absolutely loving the summer-perfect bags and sandals from Felix Rey and Miss Trish of Capri. I was lucky enough to pick up the wave-print clutch yesterday. It is adorable! And don't get me started on the sandals.. they are so perfect for a summer at the beach. While they aren't in stores yet, they should be any day now. Personally, I will be in line for the black patent ladybug wedge...

These prints from Sanderson are so pretty -  they make me want to start wallpapering my bedroom! Did I mention snagging 6 rolls of the plum floral wallpaper from Target?  It looks kind of like the last one shown above, except that I got all six rolls for $45... whoo hoo!

How fantastic! Christian Louboutin has designed a new version of his "Trash" shoe in conjunction with Barneys New York.  The Trash collection are all one-of-a-kind and feature bits of scraps, ribbons, newspaper clippings, etc. I'm forever searching for these of eBay....

This silver peep-toe pump is available exclusively at Barneys for a mere $995!

Kevin and I returned from our trip to Florida last night. What a great time! We visited with family and friends in the Tampa area, and then headed to Orlando for the remainder of the trip. I had never been to Disney before, so Kevin treated me to a day at the parks. We had the BEST time at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It was seriously fun and completely filled with eye-candy! I don't know what I loved more - seeing all the amazing wild animals on display or getting to enjoy the amazing decor, signage, store displays and costumes. Check out some of the details above!

What a pretty little clutch! And from White House/Black Market of all places. I usually like my clutches to be of the vintage variety, but how can pink silk rosettes be resisted?

Chic Stenciling

Photobucket

Did you all see the $300 room makeovers in The New York Times Style section this past Sunday? They lined up a number of top interior designers to re-do one room in the home of someone who recently lost their job. Each designer only had $300 to work with, and was asked not to use donated items or things they had leftover at their design studios if possible.

While the results were varied, I admit I was taken by this dramatically oversized stencil in the living room designed by Fawn Galli. It really turns an otherwise basic room into something pretty "wow." Maybe I will try something like this in my bedroom, with charcoal as the background instead....

Silhouettes by Mon Petit Fantome

Photobucket

Photobucket

Framed silhouettes are one of my things... I love them. And if they are of something funny, like a billy goat or a nibbling squirrel, then all the better! These prints from Mon Petit Fantome are perfect, and I especially like that they come pre-framed and with the black ribbon attached so they are ready to hang.

I'm also a fan of the artist's more intricate silhouettes, each seeming to tell a little story. The one below is entitled "Follow Me"...

Tom Binns Cuff + PF Anniversary

Photobucket

If you would, allow me introduce you to my new friend. We met this weekend and have been inseparable ever since! For now, let's call him Tom, after Tom Binns, the oh-so-fabulous jewelry designer currently favored by our first lady and other fashionistas. I was lucky enough to find this cuff (from the designer's Faux Real collection) over the weekend, and for a tremendous discount I assure you. It is seriously the prettiest, most exquisite thing ever! For magpies like myself, Binns' work is the ultimate in statement-making jewelry. If you have never perused his collections, do so here and and do it immediately!

This weekend also brought the realization that I completely overlooked Peacock Feathers' first anniversary! I can't believe it, but on March 3 we turned 1 year old! It has been such an amazing year. I started out having no idea what to post about or whether anyone beyond myself would be interested in what I had to share. But as the days went by I gained more confidence as well as a wonderful group of readers (many of whom have their own inspiring blogs) who are incredibly stylish and fun, and who always have something kind and encouraging to say. Starting Peacock Feathers is definitely one of the best things I've ever done, and I can't wait to see what comes in its second year! Thanks to all of you for reading, and I hope you stick along for the ride...

Packing for a Getaway

Photobucket

My sweetie and I are heading for warmer weather next week, just a little vacation to see family and friends before spring emerges in Philadelphia. I sure would like to pack some jaunty patterned outfits for my trip! Something in fresh variations of navy, yellow, coral and white, like those seen in the spring collection from Trina Turk...

My Very Own Kelly Bag

I may not have a life-size, ostrich skin Kelly bag of my very own, but I can have as many of the paper versions as I want....

These "paper-doll" Kelly bags are not new to the Hermes site, but they have recently updated the designs and patterns. If you are feeling bored/crafty one afternoon, try cutting out and putting together your own classic handbag. It will look adorable sitting on your desk or dresser!

Dream Bedroom

I could go for a bedroom like this, with cerulean blue headboard and golden-neutral vintage accents...

...and with girly-chic ikat draperies framing a doorway...

... that leads to a patio that looks like this...

Heaven, don't you think!?

Weekend Project

Photobucket
Hope you all had a great weekend! As for me, I spent a good part of the time refurbishing that old brass chandelier I mentioned last week. You can see a little preview of the finished product above! In addition to painting it white, I performed a bit of DIY on the candle sleeves. While the replacement sleeves offered by this company are very cool indeed, I decided to save about $70 by making them myself.  I'll share more photos in upcoming days once we decide where to hang the thing, and I also promise to include a little tutorial for covering your own candle sleeves!

Such pretty tablesettings and vignettes... I love the layered patterns and textures.
