Cute Critters at Fish's Eddy

'
I've long been a fan of Fish's Eddy, what with their classic diner-style and vintage hotel tableware. They are also known for their playful and witty designs, and the items shown above, currently on sale, are a perfect example of the style. All of these pieces together, in their pleasing shades of brown and chartreuse, would make the beginnings of a whimsical tablescape, don't you think?

Woodland owl and squirrel 8" platters, $5.98; Bird in Tree cheese tray, $7.98; chartreuse kitchen bowl, $.8.98; Bird in Tree melamine tray, $14.95

Vena Cava and Alexander Wang for Gap...

Gap's new design collaborations for 2009 debut on June 16, and they include pieces by CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominees Vena Cava and Alexander Wang. After several years of doing variations on the white shirt, they have decided to take on khakis. I absolutely LOVE the khaki print dresses by Vena Cava (at top), and the motorcycle jacket by Alexander Wang is total badass-turned-American classic. So cool, and everything is under $100! You can only guess where I will be next Tuesday...

Coveting...

Just looking at this necklace makes me insane with desire. I've been experiencing a bit of a day-glo craving of late - a necklace such as this one by Issy Solomon is the perfect remedy. How amazing would it look standing out against a simple black dress? The mind reels...

Bold and Artsy

I'm loving the idea of home decor and fashion with painterly colors and splashes of metallics...

Colorful Gardening

Progress continues to be made in my patio area. After completing the tiered veggie garden, the focus has been on just making things pretty. My most recent mini project is this ladder plant stand. I like having something tall to create a bit of a focal point - and it's certainly nice having another spot to perch flower pots. The idea came from this post over at Bits & Pieces... as soon as I saw it the light bulb went on! Turns out we had an rickety, old ladder sitting in our basement just perfect for refurbishing. With a single, rough coat of leftover turquoise paint from my laundry room project to give it an appropriately weathered look, I had a fun, no-cost piece of garden decor!

Here are a view more shots from around the garden...

The duck planter was an 8th grade art project of my sweetie's... how cute is that?

The miniature metal wash bucket is a $2 Target find from the bargain bin at the front of the store. So perfect as a planter! Now I can't wait for the dahlias to really start blooming...

Here's my sneaky little Radius, posing as usual. And the table runner is only $3.99 at Ikea - you'll need two to make it across the table though...

A final addition to our upstairs deck - a graceful swan planter from the sale room at Anthro!

Paris, je t'aime...

My honey and I have been thinking about taking a trip this fall, and tops on my list of locations is Paris. I've been a number of times in the past and it is truly my favorite place in the whole world. Accommodations for me have usually been little family-owned hotels in Montmartre, but this time I want to stay in an apartment that has a kitchen for storing and preparing all the wonderful foods that can be found in this charming neighborhood's sidewalk markets. There are many rental apartments in Paris available for vacationers, usually rented in either 3 or 7-day stays. This one, located in Montmartre just steps from the Abbesses metro stop, may be the most perfect I've found yet...

Dreamy, yes? The apartment was designed and furnished by Canadian-based Little White House, a home decor and furnishing boutique with several locations in British Columbia. Personally I can't imagine a more perfect place to stay while in Paris. The white and black decor is so chic, and who can resist the romantic vintage details and the stunning windows that let all that lovely light in?

Oh, and don't any of you dare steal my rental dates this fall!

Oooh... Marimekko Wallpaper

I don't know how I missed this! Marimekko has a new line of wallpapers - 12 prints in all, including the classic "Unikko" floral shown at the top and the new "Biloba" and "Joonas." Wouldn't that soft fan print look so pretty in a dressing room or girlie powder room?
