Born to Fit Party + GAP 1969 Giveaway!

Welcome to the party! (Oh, and scroll to the bottom of this post if you want to get to the really good stuff... the giveaway!)

Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of hosting a cocktail party for my girlfriends in honor of the launch of Gap's 1969 Premium Jeans. As I mentioned in a previous post, I was approached by a marketing firm called Brand About Town to be a Brand Enthusiast for Gap. To this, obviously, I happily agreed! And I felt even better about taking on this role after trying on the jeans, because I can honestly say that they are great, combining excellent fit with a very reasonable price point. As most of you know my style is super girly, with lots of dresses and the like - but I can honestly say that these jeans have opened up a new world for me. The Always Skinny in particular are very sexy and fit like a glove, and provide the perfect base for a floaty top and some super high stilettos!

Anyway, my main obligation as a BE was to host a party for my girlfriends. Brand About Town provided lots of goodies that allowed me to throw a top-notch soiree, the best of which was a ton of denim...

They sent me a full run of sizes in three of the most popular styles - Always Skinny, Real Straight, and Sexy Boot - and each girl was allowed to try them on and then pick out a pair to take home. What an awesome party favor! Tote bags were also provided so they could all carry their jeans home in style. Not to mention I was provided with a slew of Gap gift cards, in case any the girls were unable to find the perfect size or fit.

A party is no good without yummy food and drink, or without a lovely place to stage it. My dear friend Ingrid was kind enough to loan her fabulous brownstone apartment, which offered a large living room for mingling and a connected bedroom that served as a "shop"/dressing area. We created a cocktail buffet on her antique farm table and set it with our combined collection of white pedestal dishes. Some of the tasty treats included spicy ahi tuna tartare, crostini with prosciutto, mozzarella and basil, and watermelon salad with mint... all washed down with rose cava and raspberry lemonade. Oh, and I can't forget the amazing chocolate and raspberry pavlova, made by my sister-in-law to be!

I also had a great time creating custom signage that reflected the theme of the event. Using super-inexpensive picture frames from Ikea, I filled each with a piece of cut-to-measure wrapping paper in a fun, slightly mod red and blue floral print. Then I printed my text using a color printer and cut it all out with a pair of scalloped scissors. Scalloped edges makes everything look cuter!

Some pretty pink dahlias...

It truly was a fantastic party, thanks to the fifteen lovely ladies who attended and to Ingrid who so graciously co-hosted. And of course to Gap for providing us all with an opportunity to try out and take home their awesome new line of jeans.

And now, it's your turn to try them out for yourselves! I'm offering a giveaway to my loyal readers: 5 lucky readers will receive a pair of Gap 1969 Premium jeans... and another one of you will receive a $50 Gap gift card! Simply comment on this post and tell me what you are looking forward to wearing your new denim with this fall, such as sexy heels or a boyfriend blazer or your favorite team's jersey. I'll be selecting 6 names at random on Monday, August 24, so please get in your comments by then. Good luck, everyone!

(P.S. A special thanks to Lauren of Bloggerific Tales for acting as party photographer and for contributing many of the photos seen above)

Busy Week + Ditte Isager

It's been a busy week, and I'm sorry I haven't been posting much. Until I am able to share more (especially about the awesome Gap Born to Fit cocktail party I hosted last night), here are a few lovely photos from the very talented photographer Ditte Isager...

Pretty in Pink, Vol 2

I have lots of rosy-hued rooms for you to enjoy today... in my opinion the perfect amount of cheeriness for a sunny Monday morning!

Must Have: Assad Mounser Jewelry

Argh, these necklaces from Assad Mounser make me crazy with desire! I love the neutral tones of the pearls and metal accented by pops of fuchsia and orange, particularly in the "Regal Necklace" shown top right. Designed by Amanda Assad Mounser (fyi, don't miss her great fashion blog) and recently featured over at Sea of Shoes, this may just be my new favorite jewelry line! Crossing my fingers that some of these pieces will make their way to a Philadelphia boutique in the not-too-distant future, so I can view all their prettiness in person...

Happy Long Weekend!

The fiance and I are heading to the Jersey Shore for a long weekend, so I am signing off until Monday. Until then, I leave you with this fabulously bright and cheerful breakfast room from Hus & Hem. The leggy table with round floral cloth  and the purple-accented banquette just make me so, so happy!

Have a great one, everyone!

Dreamy Wedding Boards

I don't mean to turn Peacock Feathers into a wedding blog, but there's just so much love in the air right now! My dear friend Ingrid is getting married this fall, therefore we are in full planning mode. Ingrid has fantastic style, and has picked the most lovely colors to compliment her city-garden ceremony and hip restaurant reception. I used her already-selected images to assemble these inspiration boards. Aren't the corals, yellows and soft blues so dreamy?! I cannot wait to see how it all comes to life. No doubt it will be beautiful, which is fitting considering the couple being celebrated...

(p.s. I owe credits for these images.... will be sure to add them next week!)

Must Have: Pat Field Magazine Clutch

These plastic magazine clutches from Patricia Field are the coolest! Sometimes a girl needs a little 80's neon in her wardrobe, and this is the perfect way to do it. I like the idea of carrying one with the simplest black dress and heels. Keep everything else relatively conservative, and the awesomeness of the bag will be magnified! And at $80, they are a relative steal...

Color Collage

There's so much to love in the home of artist Caitlin Wylde. The primary colors, bold ethnic prints, and shots of graphic stripes make for such a vibrant and fun living space...

Artful Styling at J. Crew

I don't believe I've expressed my J.Crew love lately. Well, these looks from their new fall collection are so good, they're making me look forward to the eventual change in seasons. The accessories, color combos and overall styling are beyond fantastic. Don't you love the electric blue satin clutch accenting the pale pinks, greys and golds of the outfit above? That's a great idea that can be worked into a summer wardrobe too... I have a pair of cobalt sandals that will look fab with a khaki sundress and maybe a gold belt. Hmm, maybe I should start digging around in my closet some more...

Bright & Blue

I know, I'm so predictable. I love these turquoise-accented spaces! The striped stairwell is particularly fantastic... so happy and fun.

Wedding Inspiration Board #2 and #3

I'm still pulling together ideas for our wedding next year. These boards focus on my decor, floral and food direction. As you can see, lots of purple and pink and vintage touches! We're still deciding on a venue, but once we do I think these ideas will really start to come together. More to come...

p.s. Have a great weekend, one and all!

Ryan Korban

There's a great interview with up-and-coming interior designer Ryan Korban on Style.com. He talks about designing for small spaces and about taking a fashion approach to interior design, which is so my thing. I can't wait until his website is up so we can see more of his beautiful interiors, like the one pictured above!
