Black and White and Chic

Did you see this great LA house tour posted over at Apartment Therapy last week? It's one of the coolest places I've seen there in a long time - full of bold pops of color and fun accessories. It's very "Jonathan Adler," which I love. I'm particularly intrigued by the black and white striped dresser next to the bed- what a fantastic DIY project that would be! Here are a few more images... total eye candy in my opinion...

Happy Friday + Holidays are on the way!

I can't believe the holidays are almost here. It's crazy how fast this year has gone by! I mean seriously, my first party of the season is in only two weeks! Of course, this makes me start thinking about what I'm going to wear, and what I want to wear are shiny, sparkly jewel tones - like pretty much everything from the Kate Spade winter collection. The green silk organza dress shown above is particularly tempting! And it would be even cuter with some of these accessories...

So are you all thinking about cocktail dresses and holiday parties yet? If so, what are you going to wear? Have fun thinking about it this weekend... I hope it's a great one for you all!

Yummy Scents on Crescent Row

Benefit products always have great packaging, but the bottles for the new scents from their Crescent Row collection really take the cake. Reminiscent of cocktail shakers, each gold-domed bottle features a colorful retro-mod label meant to represent three different types of women. And they took the theme even farther, creating a house (actually the perfume box) for each one of the ladies, with decor that looks like it straight out of Domino. But the best thing about these yummy new scents is that they smell fantastic! I am absolutely obsessed with "My Place or Yours Gina," which is described as a "woody oriental" with notes of pink pepper, wild raspberry and patchouli. I think it's intoxicating... like a sexy, spicy cotton candy! And boy will that bottle look cute on my dresser...

Tuesday Eye Candy: New Fifi Lapin Prints

I can't believe I am envious of an illustrated bunny's wardrobe, but as usual, I am. These new prints of Fifi Lapin show the floppy-eared lady in all her chic and adorable glory... I wish I could have a wall of them for my dressing room! Via here...

Happy Monday + Engagement Photos!

Hope you all had a great weekend! It was an exciting one for me, as we received the photos from our engagement shoot with the amazing Heidi from Our Labor of Love. Kevin and I are super thrilled with the results - they are so beautiful, colorful and fun... exactly what we wanted! Want to see more? Check out a small sampling from our photo session here!

Happy Weekend!

Here's wishing you all a happy weekend! I'm leaving you with a couple lovely vignettes photographed by Melanie Acevedo. Personally, I hope I'm going somewhere tonight that necessitates a sexy clutch like the one on that black dresser! And then maybe tomorrow morning I'll have my cup of hot cocoa, throw on a fab embellished jacket and elbow-length gloves (one of my favorite things), and head out for some flea market-hunting....

What I will definitely be doing this weekend is looking forward to the results of my engagement photo shoot with Heidi from Our Labor of Love. I can't wait to share them with you next week!!

Until then, have a great one!

I need a hand chair...

... like this one by Pedro Friedeberg in the temporary, yet extremely cool, apartment belonging to interior designer Jamie Drake. Actually, everything in this space is pretty desirable! The cool blue/green color palette, the unique objets scattered about, and of course, the view. Read more about how the designer created this space on a (relative) budget here...

Thanks, Apartment Therapy!

... for featuring our place in a  House Tour today! It was a treat being contacted by Kristin, their Philly/DC correspondent, and being asked to participate. I spent a lot of time sprucing things up before she arrived to do the shoot, but at a certain point I just had to relax and let things be. I will say that the one difficult thing was having someone else photograph my house, which was a new experience for me. When I do it myself, I can avoid the less-than-attractive aspects that I'd rather not have people see... things such as still-visible putty covering a nail hole, or electrical cords underneath a table, or kitty footprints on the bedspread. Things that drive me crazy, but might not bother someone else. Still, I am thrilled with how things turned out! And it has been fun reading the comments too - there were some particularly sweet and complimentary ones that really made me smile. So thanks again,  Apartment Therapy... you really made my day!

Delightful Robots

I think these one-of-a-kind "fobots" by artist Amy Flynn (available here) are totally amazing! The use of found objects is so creative and inspiring! A perfectly unique - albeit pricey - holiday gift...

Marimekko Fall Collection + Favorite Color Combos

Each season I become fixated on certain color combinations and love using them to create new and interesting outfits. Now that we are heavily into the fall season, my attention has turned to deep, dark, inky shades of blue, plummy purples, and accents of coral and marigold. These dresses from Marimekko's fall clothing collection exemplify everything I am currently craving! And they are perfectly paired with the vibrant and cozy interiors culled from my inspiration files. So what's your favorite? The navy and violet shown above?

Or how about marigold and plum...

Teal and coral...

Or perhaps fuchsia, aubergine, and an accent of crisp apple green...

All pretty yummy, don't you think?!

Tuesday Eye Candy, Part 2: Pink and Paisley

I get the feeling this may be a teenager's very chic bedroom, but I would happily (happily!) take it for my own. Give me a pink velvet daybed covered with ikat pillows and a glossy patent leather side chair any day!
