New Bedroom

Here's a glimpse of my kitty Radius relaxing in my - mostly - new master bedroom. I've been dying to fix it up for the longest! The painting was done months ago, but that's as far as I got. But then a couple weeks ago the fiancee and I bought a new headboard and frame, and that sparked the redecorating effort. I love the bright white headboard against the charcoal walls, and the new taller bed (the old one was a low platform "Malm"from Ikea) is perfect sitting under a collection of old and new artwork (yikes, they are looking a bit crooked here!)

Remember the pineapple lamp and round table from my guest bedroom? I decided they were too cute to stay hidden away in a not-often-used room, so I brought them upstairs and gave them a new home! The little bench under the window was found at a thrift store recently - I covered the seat in a scrap of pink velvet (the same velvet I used for my guest bedroom headboard!) Now it's the perfect spot to rest a purse and maybe a new pair of shoes...

A close-up of my little bedside table. The lamp is from K-Mart, simply sprayed a glossy apple green. The cat paperweight is from John Derian and the fish figurines are Jonathan Adler. Meanwhile, I highly recommend Fabulous Fakes by Carole Tanenbaum. If you love vintage jewelry like I do, you will LOVE this book. Gorgeous photography... eye-popping jewelry!

The bedding is one of my favorite things about the room. Sometimes you just want something colorful and feminine and nothing else will do. I considered something from the fab new Orla Kiely line, but I wasn't in the mood for simple and modern. I think these sheets from Ralph Lauren's "Belle Harbour" collection are heaven - they are the perfect bold, vintage floral and they're soft as can be. Also, the rick rack-trimmed shams are from Anthro, the quilt is from HomeGoods, and the mod knit pillow is from Urban Outfitters.

Finally, I have to share these adorable painted storage baskets that I found at HomeGoods. They are made like boxes and are perfect for holding scarves, magazines, and whatever else needs concealing!  Cute, don't you think?! (p.s the platform peep-toe heels are Marni, via Neiman Marcus Last Call...)

Soon I will share more photos of the room. Next time I will try to get better angles so you all can get a better sense of the entire space...

Poster Details

The talented ladies over at Loveleigh Invitations have some very cool detail shots of my save-the-date posters, including behind the scenes photos of the screen-printing process.  Seeing these pics make me even more grateful for the hard work and craft that went into the project. Wow!

Spring Fling

It's snowing in Philadelphia, but it's spring at Kate Spade... and that is a great thing. I love the sunny colors and playful accessories - hello, orange and pink argyle socks!  They makes me want to jump in a time machine and land 3 months in the future. Warm weather cannot come fast enough...

Window Dressing

Have you all seen this incredibly beautful window display designed by Eddie Ross for the Bloomingdale's Big Window Challenge? Representing Elle Decor, Eddie really outdid himself in creating this space called "The Modern Woman." It has everything I love and then some - graphic (spatter-painted!) wallpaper, vivid colors, unique accessories, antique and vintage pieces, and so many gracious touches, like the lovely little drink tray on the coffee table.  It really is a "wow" space, and almost more eye candy than I can take in at once!

Before and After

This is supposedly a before and after kitchen re-do. Personally, I love it both ways. But really, something about those open cupboards stuffed with pretty plates and dishes appeals to me more than the perfectly edited look below.

A Day in My Life

Thanks so much to Camila over at the fantastic High-Heeled Foot in the Door for featuring me in her weekly "In Her Shoes" series! It was a treat to be invited to participate, as I always love reading her blog and learning how other bloggers spend their days. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, you can find my little diary here...

Shopping for... Wallets

I've been on the hunt for a new wallet for a while now, ever since my Orla Kiely one bit the dust. For some reason, this is always a difficult purchase for me. It needs to be infinitely functional, with all the proper pockets and sections, but also chic as well. I still haven't bought a new one, but these are all tempting contenders...

Tuesday Eye Candy... E+K's Save the Dates

I've been waiting for the opportunity to share my wedding save-the-dates, and now that a copy is framed and hanging in my living room I figured it was the perfect time. Kevin's and my poster-style announcement was designed by Cheyenne over at Loveleigh Invitations and it includes the funny and ferocious animals that we both love, and the bright colors that I definitely love.  Cheyenne did an amazing job capturing our style, and they were made even more special as they were screenprinted by her very talented husband.

We chose a really interesting 11" x 14" card stock-weight paper by French Paper, a subtly patterned version from their Mod-Tone line (the Mod-Tone ecru #4040), to print the posters on. I love the little bit of texture it gives the design. Oh, and here is how the posters looked when they were delivered...so cute!

Meanwhile, the mailing package was pretty fun (and labor-intensive) too! I chose craft paper mailing tubes and Cheyenne designed adorable labels which I was able to run through my laser printer. The twine and little tag finished it off...

It was such a fun project to work on and I'm super grateful to Loveleigh Invitations for making something so special for me and Kevin. And now, it's time to start on the actual invites! Wow, lots more to share this spring!

Reconsidering Red

Red is probably one of the color that I gravitate towards the least in home decor and fashion, but... after seeing these images from the home of Jenny from Little Green Notebook I may have to reconsider. Every room in her home is so very chic, and the bold splashes of red have a lot to do with why. I'm starting to make plans to redecorate my master bedroom... maybe I will use these rooms as inspiration!

Inspired Winter Dressing - Louis Vuitton

It can be challenging to appear stylish during the winter (or at least I've always found it to be the case), but this season I've been testing out some kookier-than-usual looks that have made getting dressed in the morning much more fun. I'm talking about knee socks with skirts, layers galore, belted sweaters, bold prints, furry accents, open-toed sandals with tights... pretty much everything seen in the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2010 collection. It's all a lot of look, I know, but so inspiring at the same time.  So - what have you all been wearing to keep warm and stylish this winter?
