Glamour Shots by Little Nest

Please allow me to indulge myself. These are my little monkeys - Maude and Mabel - photographed by the very talented Alison from Little Nest Portraits. Yes, I had my kittens professionally photographed. To defend myself though, Little Nest was at Terrain earlier in the summer for a charity event. For $25, a person could bring in their child (or perhaps their kittens) for a quick one-on-one photo session. These were completed in about ten minutes and turned out quite lovely, don't you think?!

Bold colors and prints (two of my favorite things) show up all over the place in actress Megan Mullaly's Hollywood home, featured in this month's Elle Decor. The black and white peacock feather print wallpaper in the bathroom is particularly divine! How I'd love to re-do my guest bathroom in that print...

Wedding Bits and Pieces

A few of you have asked me about my wedding photos. Oh how I wish I could share them with you, but for the moment I have to keep them under wraps! In the meanwhile, here are a view glimpses of wedding decor that have found a new home in my home. These amazing striped banners are some of my favorite pieces from the whole wedding. Created as welcome banners to flank the main entrance to the ceremony, they were custom-made by my colleague Matt Muscarella with gorgeous calligraphy by Melissa Kistler. Now they hang in my guest bedroom over the pillow-strewn daybed. The kittens seem to approve, and so do I...

Scenes from my work

I don't typically share too much about my work here, but this space is just too cute not to show off! At Terrain, we have this wonderful historic mushroom hut that is available as an event space. For larger occasions such as weddings, we might use it as an unexpected spot for a dessert table. But what it's really perfect for is a small, private dinner for maybe 10 people. Wouldn't you love to have a little birthday dinner in here with some close friends and family? It's particularly lovely at night when it's lit by candlelight and the breeze is blowing in. Here are a few shots from a special dinner party I put together recently...

And here's a new piece I found for my 3rd floor hallway. This corner has been empty (except for the chandelier) for a while now, and so when I saw this little desk on the side of the road I couldn't help but bring it home. Still not sure about the styling - I think it needs something round hanging above it instead of the two small framed prints. Also, the colors are a little all over the place and there are too many random knicknacks. But I love the old mason jars next to the Hermes box... that's staying...

Guaranteed...

This will be THE wedding shoe of 2011, no doubt about it. The new, turquoise version of the cobalt blue, Manolo Blahnik stunner first seen in Sex in the City... it is simply perfection. I might have even considered it for my big day, but I feel pretty good about the ones I ended up with....

I love seeing people's collections. And the collections that Herve Pierre, creative director for Carolina Herrera, has amassed are beyond delightful - stacks and stacks of iconic orange boxes, vintage designer hat boxes, and many more things that make my heart go pitter patter. Love, love, love...
