I hardly need another animal-motif knicknack in my home. But this winking owl cookie jar from Anthropologie is so utterly quirky and charming that I simply cannot resist. My prediction is that he will be sitting on my kitchen counter in the very near future!

plans
Resolution for the new year? To redesign my living room, with the centerpiece being a huge built-in bookcase along the focal wall. Plans are starting to come together, and after coming across this stunning bookcase from M. Design Interiors I'm more excited than ever to make it happen. A lot of work will be required... my guy has agreed to tackle the bookcase project, and I have the job of repainting the room and sourcing out the various textiles and other objects. I'm planning to track the whole project here, so hopefully I'll have some updates for you soon!

do you svpply?
I've been playing around with Svpply, the relatively new site that allows you to keep track of all the goodies on your online shopping wish list...
Svpply incorporates some of the social networking capabilities of a Facebook so you are able to follow other shoppers whose lists you particularly admire. I like it mostly for keeping track of my most-desired online steals and not-so steals. What you see here is my current list, a mish-mash that includes a leaf-festooned DVF dress, Guy Bourdin and Gerhard Richter coffee table books, a fringed Prova scarf, two-toned, heeled oxfords from J.Crew, a Happy Menocal matador watercolor print, and sexy/badass Alexander Wang platform heels...
Have any of you tried it? If so, what do you think?
(For more info on images, check out Peacock Feathers' Svpply page...)

bright and modern
Perusing my inspiration files today, I came across this delightful room first spied on Design Sponge. The sunlit space combined with vintage architecture and mod art feels so very right for the new year, don't you think?

traditional with a twist
I was immediately taken by this home belonging to designer Leslie Sachs that was recently featured in an issue of Cottage Style magazine. I love the mix of classic furniture with glamorous details and bold yet feminine color. And hey! She has my mirror (the one over the vanity)! You know, the one I purchased for a song from a certain discount retailer (please don't make me say Wal-Mart).

time for color
With January comes time for change and, for me at least, time for color! These eye-popping looks from Prada's spring 2011 runway make me yearn for brighter, warmer days... and interior spaces to match. Perhaps I will pull the trigger this month and repaint my living room in a bolder, more saturated shade, something that matches the optimism that the new year brings!

Here's hoping you all had a very happy new year... one that was full of flouncy party dresses and glamorous heels! I've been taking a break from the blog for the past few weeks, but I'm feeling refreshed and ready to share all my favorite eye candy and design inspiration. my wedding at once wed
Hey everyone! Hope you're having a fantastic holiday so far. Today I'm super excited to send you over to Once Wed, as they have most kindly featured my wedding there (there are two parts - click here for part 1, and for part 2.) It's very flattering that such an awesome wedding blog wanted to share my pictures, which were taken by the terrifically-talented Heidi Geldhauser from Our Labor of Love (fyi, there are tons more photos over at her blog!) I've included a few more below, and over the next couple days I plan on sharing more of the detail shots and eye candy...

Xmas Wish List... Paintings by Viv Strauss
At the top of my Xmas wish list this year? These chic and charming, delightful and whimsical paintings by Viv Strauss. I've had her Etsy store bookmarked for several months and often find myself daydreaming about an entire hallway filled with her amazing work. I'm crossing my fingers for one or two under my Xmas tree this year. The ultimate though - to have a custom portrait of me and my honey and my four kitties! A girl can dream! Do check out more of Viv's fab paintings here... I have no doubt you'll find something to add to your wish list too.

my favorite color

Aqua abounds in this lovely, lovely home featured in the new holiday issue of Lonny. And I can't express just how much I love the great dane painting over the fireplace... I'm swooning!

wedding sneak peek
I've been dying to share some pictures of my gorgeous wedding invitations created last spring by Loveleigh Invitations. Every detail was custom-designed by these lovely ladies, and I feel lucky to have been able to send out such a beautiful package to my guests. It makes me so happy to see my grizzly bear, ostrich and owl all decked out in their wedding finery - top hats, bow ties and boutonnieres were mandatory for the animals!
I'm super excited becuase in the next week or so I'll finally be able to share my wedding photos, shot by the amazing Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love - including more detail shots of the invites shown above. Stay tuned!

Not sure where this image is from, but it's really working for me. Loving the layers of yellow and gold, not to mention the many pretty patterns....

critters galore
Not that I need another animal knicknack... but this is kind of the ultimate, over-the-top critter extravaganza! A rabbit on top of a sheep on top of a deer on top of an elk, in white porcelain... and it's a candelabra too. Very, very fab!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope you're off to somewhere nice for Thanksgiving (like this handsome fox) - even if it's just off to the dining room for a yummy turkey dinner! Have a great, relaxing day!

Tuesday Eye Candy: Chic and Cheerful
Swoon! This home, belonging to Jeanine Lobell and Anthony Edwards and designed by Raphael de Cardenas, is one of the most delightful homes I've seen in a long time. The dining room could be the most chic and charming rooms ever, don't you think? I want to move in immediately!
