New Orleans Gothic Birthday Party

Last year, my dear friend Ingrid asked me to help with a surprise party for her fella Gabe. To accompany Ingrid's delicious Southern-style meal, we came up with a kind of Gothic New Orleans, voodoo-themed look. I created menu cards that displayed a 19th Century NOLA map in the background and designed custom decoupage dinner chargers featuring images near and dear to Gabe. Meanwhile, Colin supplied the vases, feathers and candles that helped make the table sing.

Black ostrich plumes, white callas, and red prayer candles set the mood. We finished off the look with creepy white skulls and old-fashioned jelly jars used as water glasses. The runner is plain brown craft paper, which we placed over a beautiful cream damask cloth.

Colin and I made these voodoo dolls to use as place cards.
