House Update - My New Office

Now that I am working from home, Kevin and I decided that it would be nice if I had my own office to work from. We already have a room set up as an "office," but for all practical purposes it serves as a music/media room. So last week, we created a desk space in the guest bedroom. It's perfect for me - the room gets lots of sunlight and I can make it as girly as I like. There is still more to be done - I need additional containers and file boxes, and I still don't have the shelves arranged quite the way I want - but it's getting there...

Changes

I'm excited to be back today with a gorgeous new banner design, created for me by the very talented Cheyenne Panzeter. Recently I left a full time job at a museum in order to start my own events firm, which I've decided to call Peacock Feathers Event + Style. This piece is one of a suite of materials Cheyenne is designing for me - business cards, letterhead, announcements, etc. Everything she is doing is so festive and fun...exactly what I was going for! I promise to share more (on the materials side and the business side) as things progress...

Back on Monday...

I'm sorry I've been away from Peacock Feathers for so long. Technical difficulties together with starting a new business have resulted in some unintended blog neglect. But I promise to return on Monday with lots of new things! I'll be debuting a fabulous new banner design for starters and will also be sharing images of my new office. Can't wait!!

House Updage - Guest Bedroom

After a short hiatus, I am back to work on the guest bedroom. Still not close to done, but I've picked up a few more accessories. The Thomas Paul pillow was a steal from Bluefly, the zigzag throw is from Ikea, and the bird plate is from the new John Derian line at Target.

And since I've decided to also use this room as my personal office, there is much more to do.
My next project is repainting an old desk and installing shelving. More photos to come!

Fashion Week: Project Runway

While Season 5 of Project Runway is only half way done, the finalists showed their work at Bryant Park a few days ago. I couldn't help but take a look. It should not be a spoiler to know that Korto and Leanne made it, as they've been the strongest of the bunch.

First, Korto:

So gorgeous! I want the yellow dress...and the green dress...

Next, Leanne:

I'll take all of them! Such amazing color...

While this season of PR hasn't been getting as much press, I think Korto and Leanne are two of the most talented contestants they've ever had. I'm hoping they both find lots of success in the fashion world.

Red Mood

I'm not much of a red color person, especially when it comes to home decor. I tend towards cooler shades, and of course to pink. But lately, I've been gravitating towards accents of red, or in some cases whole swathes of it...

Wedding Pattern

What a cute set-up for wedding photographs. That fabric is from Ikea. Also, love the bride's brightly beaded necklace! I think it's great when couples choose non-traditional colors and prints for their big day. (Images via Style Me Pretty)

Photography by Matthew Schenning

These images from Brooklyn-baed artist Matthew Schenning are so dark and dreamy, they remind me of stills from a David Lynch movie. His work can be found here, and a selection of his prints are exclusively available (and quite reasonably priced!) at Three Potato Four.

Lizzie Fortunato Jewels

How fantastic is this line of jewelry from designer sisters Elizabeth and Kathryn Fortunato? Their fall collection of Lizzie Fortunato Jewels was inspired by "Picasso's harlequin paintings, the notorious European socialite - Marchese Luisa Casati, and the vast landscape of Argentina." I love how the mix of fabrics and found objects comes off as luxe instead of cutesy...

Meanwhile, the website is inspiring on its own. This collage of colors and patterns makes me want to redecorate my living room...
