Window Dressing

Have you all seen this incredibly beautful window display designed by Eddie Ross for the Bloomingdale's Big Window Challenge? Representing Elle Decor, Eddie really outdid himself in creating this space called "The Modern Woman." It has everything I love and then some - graphic (spatter-painted!) wallpaper, vivid colors, unique accessories, antique and vintage pieces, and so many gracious touches, like the lovely little drink tray on the coffee table.  It really is a "wow" space, and almost more eye candy than I can take in at once!

Before and After

This is supposedly a before and after kitchen re-do. Personally, I love it both ways. But really, something about those open cupboards stuffed with pretty plates and dishes appeals to me more than the perfectly edited look below.

A Day in My Life

Thanks so much to Camila over at the fantastic High-Heeled Foot in the Door for featuring me in her weekly "In Her Shoes" series! It was a treat to be invited to participate, as I always love reading her blog and learning how other bloggers spend their days. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, you can find my little diary here...

Shopping for... Wallets

I've been on the hunt for a new wallet for a while now, ever since my Orla Kiely one bit the dust. For some reason, this is always a difficult purchase for me. It needs to be infinitely functional, with all the proper pockets and sections, but also chic as well. I still haven't bought a new one, but these are all tempting contenders...

Tuesday Eye Candy... E+K's Save the Dates

I've been waiting for the opportunity to share my wedding save-the-dates, and now that a copy is framed and hanging in my living room I figured it was the perfect time. Kevin's and my poster-style announcement was designed by Cheyenne over at Loveleigh Invitations and it includes the funny and ferocious animals that we both love, and the bright colors that I definitely love.  Cheyenne did an amazing job capturing our style, and they were made even more special as they were screenprinted by her very talented husband.

We chose a really interesting 11" x 14" card stock-weight paper by French Paper, a subtly patterned version from their Mod-Tone line (the Mod-Tone ecru #4040), to print the posters on. I love the little bit of texture it gives the design. Oh, and here is how the posters looked when they were delivered...so cute!

Meanwhile, the mailing package was pretty fun (and labor-intensive) too! I chose craft paper mailing tubes and Cheyenne designed adorable labels which I was able to run through my laser printer. The twine and little tag finished it off...

It was such a fun project to work on and I'm super grateful to Loveleigh Invitations for making something so special for me and Kevin. And now, it's time to start on the actual invites! Wow, lots more to share this spring!

Reconsidering Red

Red is probably one of the color that I gravitate towards the least in home decor and fashion, but... after seeing these images from the home of Jenny from Little Green Notebook I may have to reconsider. Every room in her home is so very chic, and the bold splashes of red have a lot to do with why. I'm starting to make plans to redecorate my master bedroom... maybe I will use these rooms as inspiration!

Inspired Winter Dressing - Louis Vuitton

It can be challenging to appear stylish during the winter (or at least I've always found it to be the case), but this season I've been testing out some kookier-than-usual looks that have made getting dressed in the morning much more fun. I'm talking about knee socks with skirts, layers galore, belted sweaters, bold prints, furry accents, open-toed sandals with tights... pretty much everything seen in the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2010 collection. It's all a lot of look, I know, but so inspiring at the same time.  So - what have you all been wearing to keep warm and stylish this winter?

Tuesday Eye Candy: Bejeweled Bouquets

Oh my! Seeing these absolutely divine wedding bouquets assembled from vintage costume jewelry makes me completely rethink the plans for flowers at my wedding! What a perfect memento to cherish for years to come. Perfect for jewelry and vintage lovers such as myself, or anyone who doesn't want to watch her wedding bouquet wither away.

Sweet Sentiments...

... from Anna Bond at Rifle Design. I just love her curly fonts and oh-so-charming illustrations. Her recently-opened online shop is chock full of delightful note cards, framable prints, and custom-illustrated calling cards. The last option might be calling my name - how great to have a little business card with my face on it!

Soft and Sunny... and an Amazing Kitchen

Sorry I kind of dropped off the face of the earth last week!  I am still learning to juggle my many new work projects. I'm going to be better starting today though, I swear...

For now I'm sharing these lovely images that I've been staring at for a couple weeks. I love the pale golds and peaches with the charcoal grey and pops of black and white. And the kitchen... dreamy!

Graphic Design Books

I recently picked up Naive: Modernism and Folklore in Contemporary Design, a great book filled with colorful and inspiring graphic design eye candy - and a perfect cover for displaying on the coffee table. A few more on my wish list that might be on yours too: Play Pen: New Children's Book Illustration, Olle Eskel: Swedish Graphic Designer, and The Whimsical Work of David Weidman. Weidman in particular is one of my favorites...
