Happy Weekend + Giveaway Reminder

Photobucket

As I sign off for the weekend, I leave you with these lush peonies that I picked up today at the flower shop. These flowers are in full abundance right now and a bunch can be had for $10. I think they bring so much loveliness and life to wherever they reside. I'll enjoy looking at their happy faces all weekend...

One reminder to share: If you haven't already commented over at the "Like I Give A Frock" giveaway, please do so by Monday at midnight! I'll be drawing a name on Tuesday...

Thanks to all of you for being such wonderful readers! I hope the weekend is fun and carefree for all of you!

Modern, Rustic, Bold and Bright

Photobucket

Not everything I covet must be overflowing with color and pattern. For an alternative take on French style, I offer this lovely Paris home. When I came across this house from Marie Claire Maison, I found its relative simplicity refreshing. I love the overall modern design with touches of the rustic, bold, and just plain charming (like the sweet birdhouse on the dresser)...

Couture Eye Candy

Sometimes I just want eye candy. And these details from Christian Lacroix's Spring 2009 couture show are the ultimate in that. The colors, textures and patterns always blow my mind...

The Art of Tableau

Photobucket

I asked you all the other day what book if any was sitting on your bedside table. Well, here is one I would like to have on mine! I just learned about Tableau by Deborah Buck recently, though it has been available since late January. The book showcases stunning images of various decorative vignettes created by the designer. Assembling tableaux such as these is a real art form, and I feel like there would be a lot to learn from studying Ms. Buck's compositions.

Gorgeous, don't you think? Maybe I will learn something that can be applied towards rearranging my entry table!

FYI, Tableau is available online at the author's website and at Barneys.com...

Dior Joaillerie

Utterly decadent and mindblowingly imaginative jewels from the Coffret de Victoire collection at Dior Joaillerie. Designed by Victoire de Castellane (do watch this great video of the designer describing her inspirations and creative process), each of these exclusive pieces is crafted from 18K gold, diamonds, rubies, amethysts, turquoise, pearls... basically the entire treasure chest. Oh, how that turquoise skull ring is calling my name.... if I could only win the lottery!

Over at One Fine Philly... Blogathon!

Photobucket

We are blogging like crazy over at my other home One Fine Philly! Pop Culture Casualty, the blog's able leader, has challenged all of the contributors to write at least one post per day for 30 days. It's a great exercise for us, and hopefully will provide our readers with some entertainment and insight. So far, I have ranted on the hideous trend of men wearing Oakley-style sunglasses with their business wear, and I've also shared my experience at a very Jonathan Adler-esque hotel in Atlantic City. There is no telling what comes next, but do check us out! I think you'll have a great time.

Like I Give A Frock + Giveaway Time!

Photobucket

On the lighter side of bedside reading... I've been thoroughly enjoying "Like I Give A Fock" by Michi Girl, the Australian fashion site.  In addition to its humorous musings on all things style, it features stunningly dreamy illustrations by the most-talented Kat MacLeod. Even those of you not so obsessed with fashion will be taken by the eye candy...

The prettiest office ever, I think. How gorgeous is the pale blue desk and gleaming silver branch light fixture? Definitely one for the inspiration files...

Random Friday Fun

Photobucket

It seems the week is ending with another lovely bedroom occupied by another adorable dog, just as it began on Monday! This one is from a home belonging to the owner of Shine Home that was featured in Sunset Magazine (you can see more here). Meanwhile, here are some random things that haven't found their way into their own post. Hope you enjoy, and happy Memorial Day weekend!

Whimsical Wants

Photobucket
Photobucket

I've recently had my eye on a few fun things for the house and for myself. The animal print "Karkuteilla" fabric from Marimekko is one of my favorites ever. Each yard contains one repeat of the image, and for $59 would be perfect stretched and hung over a bed or sofa. But, do you guys think it's too "kiddie" for anywhere other than a child's room?

Meanwhile, I can't stop thinking about these enchanting charm necklaces by Tord Boontje. Crafted from sterling silver and 18K gold-plate and ranging in price from $27-$40, they are bargains that would look so eye-catching with a simple black dress.

Who else has something they've been craving?

The insanely glamorous and playful home of fashion designer Max Azria, designed by his wife Lubov Azria and interior designer Aly Daly....

Can you believe people actually live like this!? Who wouldn't kill for that Tord Boontje for Swarovski light fixture over the dining table, or ever better, the cascading crystal chandelier spilling into the wood table above. Wow!
