happy monday + pretty patio

Seeing this adorable patio has me thinking about redecorating my own outdoor space. Even though it's late summer, I figure there's still enough time to enjoy a sunny little sitting area, especially if it includes a yellow-fringed umbrella! Perhaps I have a project ahead of me for next weekend. I hope this past weekend was a lovely one for all of you, it certainly was for me. Looking forward to sharing more colorful, end of summer inspiration as the week goes on!

peek of color

I'm not sure what this space on the left is... it appears to be some kind of tiny napping nook next to a pantry. And that sounds (and looks) pretty great to me! Aside from it's function, I also love the contrast of stark white with glossy black. I want to see more white houses with boldly painted closets!

Crazy Color

Eye-popping color in this home designed by Muriel Brandolini... via Marie Claire Maison. I love the contrasting trim around the doorways and the glossy floors. So fun!

Before and After

This is supposedly a before and after kitchen re-do. Personally, I love it both ways. But really, something about those open cupboards stuffed with pretty plates and dishes appeals to me more than the perfectly edited look below.

Signs of Fall

We're taking a break from our regularly scheduled (i.e. bright and colorful) programming for some warm and earthy interiors with hints and glints of gold. See, it was about 75 degrees today in Philadelphia, and after all the hot and muggy weather we've been having it really felt like the first day of fall. And fall weather calls for fall colors, right? Well, at least for a moment. Tomorrow, I promise I'll be back with the joyously-hued images you have come to expect from me...

Sunny and Sparkling

I'm putting this post under "sparkly things." Whether the house above is more than a place to store boats I'm not sure, but it's gorgeous any which way.  The rest of this French vacation home is pretty great too - full of sun and white wood planks and soft colors. If anyone would like to invite me here for a weekend, I would be more than happy to oblige...

Not everything I covet must be overflowing with color and pattern. For an alternative take on French style, I offer this lovely Paris home. When I came across this house from Marie Claire Maison, I found its relative simplicity refreshing. I love the overall modern design with touches of the rustic, bold, and just plain charming (like the sweet birdhouse on the dresser)...
